Child Dedication is a beautiful moment where parents, family, and the church gather to celebrate a child as a gift from God. Together, we commit to walking with that child in faith and love as they grow.
What it’s all about:
Parents’ Promise – Parents publicly commit to raising their child in the way of Jesus, teaching and living out a life of faith at home.
Trusting God – Families entrust their child to God’s care, believing He has good purposes for their life.
Church Family Support – Our whole church promises to come alongside the family with love, encouragement, and prayer.
Rooted in Scripture – We see this modeled in the Bible, from Hannah dedicating Samuel to Mary and Joseph presenting Jesus at the temple.
Why it matters:
Child Dedication isn’t a sacrament like baptism—it’s a joyful choice parents make to dedicate their child’s future to God. It’s also a moment of hope, looking forward to the day when that child will choose to follow Christ personally through believer’s baptism.
For us as a Brethren in Christ church, dedication reflects our commitment to raising children in faith and sharing the responsibility as a community to nurture the next generation.
At its heart, Child Dedication is both a celebration of life and a commitment of love—parents, church, and God together shaping a child’s future in Christ.
